MOSS HOUSE, UDAIPUR

The building occupies the top of a rocky site with breath taking views of the valley and its surrounding mountains. The siting of the house takes advantage of these views while the form of the building evokes the faceted quality of the rocky outcrops in the landscape. A strategy of cut and fill is used to embed the house into the rock face and integrate it into the landscape.

To minimally disrupt the site the construction of a motorable road is avoided, instead a custom built platform is conceived, inspired by common mining platforms, and this device is used to traverse the site and access the house.
