Barge Recharge

The One Prize competition was organized to envision a future for the water front and the bay of the New York city.  The challenge was to develop a vision for water as the sixth borough, and propose a plan for the Clean Tech Expo 2014. The entry used the ubiquitous water barge in New York City to propose a ¬unique inhabitation of the sixth borough through a network of retrofit self propelled barges, that would host various programs on the water.  The network would connect people to and from local businesses in the vicinity of the water, thereby generating a new water-borne economy.  The expo itself could coexist on land and water, the floating parts of which would connect and create hybrid overlaps with the expo on land.
